Developmental Progress Report

Hi everyone!  I thought I'd post a quick update while she's taking a nap here (almost a rarity lately since she has decided that she's too curious about her surroundings to close her eyes).  =)

All is well here still.  We had a relaxing weekend, which was perfect after the busy week we had before.  Hubby took Friday off of work and it was great to have some more quality family time.

LL has been downright fascinated with her hands recently.  She stared at one of her hands this morning for 2 minutes, practically without blinking.  She figured out to suck her thumb on her right hand a little over a week ago and she's getting pretty proficient at it.  She is now working on getting her thumb on her left hand in her mouth.  She will mostly just suck on her fist or fingers on her left hand.  Daddy caught her sucking on BOTH thumbs at the same time (with a confused look on her face) this evening and had a good laugh about it.

Her eyesight must be a lot better because she will track moving objects really well now.  If she's looking at something while I'm holding her and I turn the opposite direction she will turn her head around until she finds what she had been looking at.  What a gifted baby!   JK   =)

We're also working on rolling over.  I will place her on her side and "help" her turn onto her tummy but it is basically all my efforts still.  It's always interesting to me to see which milestones she will reach based on her due date as opposed to her actual birth date.  Rolling over seems to be more in line with her due date, as do many others such as laughing, grasping toys, etc.  However, she definitely has MUCH more neck strength and bodily control then her due date.  She is able to stand up, supporting all of her weight, with me balancing her under her arms.

Her new favorite place is in her swing.  She's always liked it but lately when she has been fussy and we've tried everything else to soothe her, we will put her in the swing on the lowest setting and she is as content as can be.  Last night I came across daddy sitting on the floor, looking at her in her swing, trying to keep from laughing.  She was staring above herself at the mirror and mobile on the swing but her eyes were getting SO heavy that she couldn't keep them open.  It was this slow process of her staring up, droopy eyes, quickly opening eyes again, and so on with more and more time spent with closed eyes.  It was obviously adorable but also hilarious because she was trying so hard to fight it and then ultimately let out a big sigh and went to sleep.  I'm going to try to get video footage of this if possible so you can all witness the cuteness.

One more photo from last weekend (this one may just be my personal favorite):
